Feet

 Severs Disease.

Who comes up with these names!!? I never imagined that my first born son would have the most bone and immune problems but he sure does. He's what we call our practice child. Being the first, we learn a lot from him. I don’t think he cooked long enough that’s for sure. Sorry buddy.

Royce was complaining about a sore foot for two solid years. Again sorry buddy. I thought it to be a sore foot due to growing. But he finally complained enough to take it seriously. We did x-rays to find that he’s got what they call Severs Disease. Royces calf muscle needs to be stretched because he’s not able to flex his foot at an angle it should be able to. And because if that his heal gets inflamed. He also has zero arch as well as fused bone tissue on top of each foot which called Tarsal Collision. Between the three it makes a pretty sorry mom. In order to get the inflammation to go down Royce needed to cast his foot from the shin down. It was the longest four weeks of his life. He absolutely hated it. It helped his heal in the end. But he was so emotionally distressed we decided to wait to cast the opposite foot til winter. I know he’s going to be fighting it come winter.

I’m order to fix Severs Disease Royce really should be doing stretches every single morning. Unfortunately he’s lacking in that department. So how ever old you are while reading this know that I tried but we failed. If you have sore feet STRETCH YOUR CALF MUSCLE!!!

We bought crazy expensive orthotics for your shoes that alone has made all the difference. You’re able to run again!

Hopefully in the far future you won’t have problems but I’m quite certain you will. Til then we will keep winging it buddy.

Now go stretch.

Xoxo

Mom
