Mason is 10!
Mason man!
You've made it to the double digits buddy! I hope that your single digits were all you ever imagined. Your dad and I have had the best ten years watching you grow and learn. You learn so quickly its hard to not admire you on a daily basis. When you were younger learning wasn't hard. You watched then tried and succeeded at everything you wanted. Potty training was one weekend. Riding without training wheels was one day. Learning how to ride a dirt bike was one try. Tackle football was challenging and hard to commit to but you've now played for three years. Swimming came easy. Sports are fun and learning the fundamentals are a breeze. Your loving Parkour. How did you get so much talent? Your brain is meant to be used. Your already looking for jobs and what truck your gong to buy when you save enough money. You keep debating between being a Dealership owner or a Real Estate agent. You want to make a whole lot of money! I think if you stay on the track you're on, you'll have enough money to not only be stable but to travel the world and reach every goal you want. I can't wait to see where you go in this world! As he reads this right now he's saying "and i want a phone, I'll save money". My goals for you Mason are to go to college, buy toys, travel, then make your money. Treat yourself first and long enough to feel happy and full before sharing your life with a partner.
Mason had to take pictures. He’s so proud of his new bike. |
Two months before the quarantine our family had some true trials. Mason was the one who suffered the most. One reason Mason is so smart is because he listens to everything, he focuses on what is being said. Especially when its not being said to him. He's like a little detective. The more he new about the events that happened the more he suffered. Dad and I learned real quick to literally say nothing in front of you. You knew enough. With the amount you knew it came with major heartache. You became frozen with anxiety, so much so that we needed to change your room around. We had to remind you daily everything will be ok. We had to teach you to let go. And we had to keep you closer than you, my explorer, had ever been before. You became a very careful human. You overthink everything. You taught yourself the world isn't as green as you want it to be. But with these difficult trials you learned to be more careful with who you trust. You learned to see red flags. Eventually those difficult days got better and easier. I do think being quarantined had something to do with it. Not only did it help me but it helped you. Your grades were falling from January to March. Being home was the best thing that could have happened to both you and I. You were in the bubble you wanted to be in and I was very happy to keep it that way.
Quarantine! Covid! Masks! Boy if anyone nailed it, it was you. You transitioned easily to homeschooling and managed to passed third grade with 90's. Now you're in fourth grade and still doing such a beautiful job. PTC was last night. Your teacher made me tear up with all of your accomplishments. She said you're a great young man. The day she walked up to me letting me know that you were struggling reassured me that she was a great teacher for you. She truly believes in you and really wants you to succeed. There are a few classmates in your grade that are awful and rude. They tease each other in all the meanest ways. But you forgive and forget. Your friends are harsh to you but you are so confident in yourself that it flies off your shoulders. I couldn't be more proud of you. You don't fall into the awful peer pressure that you are surrounded with daily. Between your grades and your behavior we are so pleased. Mason you will get through fourth grade happy and confident.
Speaking of confidence. You struggle with it. When you were younger dressing up with bow ties, button up shirts and nice jeans was your favorite. Going to the rodeo was awesome because you got the wranglers, the coolest cowboy shirt, and the cowboy boots. Fishing, you had to have the fishing clothes. Playing outside you needed the right clothes. I remember you getting in trouble for the many many outfits you wore just in one day. Fast forward to today you're still the same. So when you woke up one morning put your clothes on and realized they didn't fit you like you wanted them to, you broke down. We look the day to recharge. We skipped school for some shopping and a fresh haircut. I am so glad we did that. Its a lesson I will forever remember. School is important but mental health days are more crucial. I truly hope you remember when you're not feeling confident being kind is more beautiful and any reflection. Be kind and you'll have all of the confidence you need. I love you handsome boy.
For your 10th birthday you invited some friends over to celebrate. We gathered up all the family and friends we could and crashed the logan bowling alley. After that we moved over to the movie theater. Mason invited a few girls which was totally adorable. They all have a great day. Mason was over the moon happy. Like Payton, Mason was so sad we couldn't have a big family birthday party. He really appreciates those family parties. We all hope next year things will be back to normal! Masons one and only thing he wanted for his birthday and christmas was a new dirt bike. He is one happy camper to say the least. He even wanted a photo op with his dirt bike. Mason you're the cutest!!
I can’t not mention grandma Marie’s birthday pillows. By far a winner in our books. |
In all, through the ups and downs Mason you have come out of 2020 a young brave kind handsome young man. I know you're going to grow this year in all of the best ways. Your dad and I can not wait to see what you achieve this year.
I love you Mason Man!!
Always and always,
Momma
This kills me, Mason chilling at the dentist. |
Dad makes sure he spends one on one time with his kids. It’s Masons favorite day of the year! |
He asks me everyday “Mom am I your favorite?” Yes buddy you absolutely are my favorite ten year old. |
Masons first day meeting Moose. It was love at first sight. |
We had a pajama Christmas party with friends on his birthday so he had to incorporate his birthday, of course we couldn’t not!! |
Anytime Mason or I are sick it’s our thing to hold a kiss on the forehead to make us feel better. He does this often to me. |
Another great Christmas! |
