Payton Marie!
If I could have a replay of her first year I would! |
October 27, 2009.... A day I hope to never forget. Dennie was off to drill in Salt lake. Usually when he is at Camp Williams he is not allowed to come home. So when I told Dennie my water broke at 4 am he was sightly annoyed he wasn't able to come home right away. Next best thing is my mom, sadly shes two hours away. So my mother in law was the next option. Thank goodness they answered the phone because I was not in any shape to drive with a seven month old baby in me and a tired baby boy in arm. I don't know why I ruptured but Payton was coming ready or not. Four weeks early.
At the time living in Logan my OB was in Brigham. Also where the in-laws live. So to Logan they go. Believe it or not it was the first snow of the year that night. Getting back to Brigham for them was a slow task worrying about the snow, a baby, and a pregnant scared mom. Sure enough we made it! I remember sitting in the waiting room SOAKED that was awesome, no just kidding it wasn't at all. Getting checked into the hospital probably couldn't go any slower. Fast forward a few hours the nurses come back and said..... you're just leaking pee! I'm sorry what did you just say? You're telling me I am peeing myself?? OK BYE. Home we go.
Before long Dennie got home. I remember laying on the couch having contractions crying because I was still leaking so much "pee". Of course I knew better so we just waited til the contractions got worse. Dennie was incredible to keep me on that couch all day. Again fast forward to 6pm -12 hours at home crying, leaking, and, worrying. We jumped back into the car to have this stubborn baby.
Shortly after getting checked in my doctor does a exam. He then apologizes for the nurses mistake saying I had peed myself. But I had actually ruptured and I need to get the baby out now. I can call myself lucky because my body by then was ready to get things rolling. The epidural went in (duh). And out she came. The easiest delivery ever!! Shocked, because how was it possible to have two easy births? Beyond blessed I am!
Like I mentioned before Payton was four weeks early so she needed an IV for a good two days. How could they poke such a small baby. And how was I suppose to let that sit there for two whole days. It was exhausting worrying about her catching any infections. To both our luck she was in the clear after two days. She had lost two ounces by the second day so that had her at 5 pounds 2 ounces. Putting her in her car seat felt as if she was a small baby doll. We didn't want to break her. We were terrified. I had to tell Dennie over and over again "Its ok you cant break her, just hold her".
I cant tell you how blessed I was as far as an easy delivery and recovery. I was feeling amazing. Payton was doing so good. And little Royce was so excited to meet his baby sister. The face he made seeing her the day she came home is priceless. We were all so happy. Payton has always been the most easy human I have ever met. Besides the time she go attached to a binky. That was pure hell for everyone around.
Funny story Dennie forgot the binkie at home one time. Payton reminded him how important it was to NEVER forget the binkie!!!! He learned a good lesson that day. One day he will never forget.
Its funny when you become a mother there are a few random silly achievements that’ll make you feel like a freakin super hero. One being when your kid or kids have a birthday. Hurray my child survived another year!!! I survived another year!! It’s a big deal. Today my tiny 5 pounds 2 ounces precious little baby girl turned EIGHT! It’s amazing how much a child can learn and grow in just eight years. We survived yet another year!
Little miss Payton has grown to be such a precious little unique soul. This year we took Payton for an eye appointment. Turns out she’s dang near blind. Poor girl had such a difficult time with school because of her lack of sight. We also learned Payton has dyslexia. Words are easy but reading, not so much. Now that she wears glasses everyday she’s been doing so much better. I hope she reaches her reading goals this year. Otherwise she’s doing so good. I couldn’t be more proud of her. Aside from school Payton is still enjoying gymnastics and tumbling. She has so much to learn which is great I hope she sticks with it for a life time. Payton also keeps herself entertained with babies. She’s still that little momma she’s always been. She was born to be a mother one day. She will tell you she doesn’t want kids. (Shes had the 'Where do babies come from' talk- she's pissed) But don’t let that fool you. Yes its far to early to think about my eight year old becoming a mother. But I truly believe this little girl will become an incredible mother one day.
Payton asked for two babies this year, ya know the ones that look 'real'. So if you happen to see us walking around in a store no I didn't have twins. Yes they are fake. These baby dolls take months to make so unfortunately we didn't get them in time for her birthday but we cant wait to see them! Shes been asking every day if they've arrived in the mail. She did get the car seats for them. Pictures below. Saying she cant wait to put her new babies in them is an understatement. She even asked for a new car so both car seats will fit. HAHA That's my girl. Love those babies for as long as you can. You will be an impeccable mom one day.
Payton is living and loving life to the absolute fullest. She doesn't fight with her siblings. She cries her pain away. She laughs, loves, and has hopes and dreams. As a mom that's all I could ever ask for from my daughter. Both her dad and I could not be more proud of the young lady she is growing up to be.
Thank you Payton for teaching us to live, love, and laugh. (Your favorite motto right now) PS Payton your dad loves his little notes. It makes his entire week when you write him one. I hope you keep that up. Your dad needs his little princess to stay little forever.
We love you baby girl! Happy Birthday Princess P!
Love momma.
